Robson Civil Projects was engaged by Stevens Group to deliver bulk earthworks and civil infrastructure works for the redevelopment of a former bulk fuel terminal at Tighes Hill, originally established in 1936.
This complex brownfield project required the safe management of contaminated materials and the reinstatement of engineered capping layers to meet strict environmental and development approval conditions. The site has since been transformed into a commercial development supporting new retail and business uses.
Robson worked closely with Northrop and key stakeholders throughout delivery, including Newcastle City Council, Hunter Water Corporation and Transport for NSW, to coordinate the successful integration of internal and external infrastructure.
Scope of Works
Robson delivered a comprehensive civil and infrastructure package, including:
Bulk earthworks and detailed excavation
Contamination management and capping of affected soils
Construction of pavements, retaining walls and concrete culvert
Underground services installation
Stormwater infrastructure including connection to Throsby Creek
External sewer connection in accordance with Hunter Water requirements
Roadworks including Elizabeth Street upgrade, bus stop widening, parking and footpaths
Construction of auxiliary turning lane on Industrial Drive (TfNSW compliant)
Electrical upgrades including ASP1 works
Dewatering of sewer and stormwater assets
Robson Civil Projects is proud to have transformed this complex brownfield site into a serviced commercial development that will support ongoing growth in the Newcastle region.
