Moolarben Coal Operations Dam: Robson Civil Projects

Summary

Robson was engaged by Yancoal to construct a new 250ML clay lined Brine Water Dam at its Moolarben Coal Operations, located in the Western Coalfields of NSW.

The construction of the Brine Water Dam is to facilitate expansion of the mine to further access coal in Open Cut (OC2).

Highlights

Urgent infrastructure project to client, delivered on a tight program within 4 month window. Acceleration was requested by client in order to facilitate mine expansion, this was completed successfully with a larger haul fleet.
Mixing of 45,000m3 clay liner with 2% gypsum & bentonite, placed, levelled and compacted to specification.
Over 35,000 man hours worked with NIL Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) recorded.
Client complimented the team on overall quality of the build and collaborative spirit of the project despite several technical complications and condensed timeframe.
