Summary

The Mt Arthur Coal Mine is an open cut coal mine located in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales which produces low energy thermal coal typically from a low strip resource for use in power generation in both the domestic and export markets.

Robson WAS engaged to complete the civil work component of the expansion to the existing South West Valley (SWV) Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) located within the boundaries of Mt Arthur Coal Mine.

Highlights

7,700m2 geosynthetic clay liner installed.
3,000m2 revetment mattress installed to the spillway mouth.
7,650m2 rock lined environmental protection zone.
Robson worked in collaboration with BHP to identify a significant cost saving in reducing the double handling of material.
2 large decant pumps and 8km of pipeline installed to integrate into BHP current operations system.
45,000 man-hours worked with NIL LTI injuries recorded.
NIL environmental incidents recorded.
