Last Friday, a group of Robson ladies, along with our General Manager, Chris Janetzki, were honoured to attend the Property Council IWD event and hear from guest speaker Lydia Williams, former Matildas goalkeeper, author and proud Indigenous Australian.
Lydia shared an incredibly moving and deeply personal story about her family, her journey through adversity, and the resilience that shaped her career. She reflected on the highs and lows of her time with the Matildas, the team’s historic fight for pay equity, and the importance of legacy — lifting others so they can go further.
We also heard from an inspiring panel of women: Josephine Sukkar AM, Leanne Newberry, Parrys Raines, and Ranisha Clarke, who shared their insights on gender equity across the property and construction sectors.
They spoke about the powerful impact of mentorship and sponsorship, highlighting that true sponsorship is when someone advocates for you when you’re not in the room. Each panellist reflected on the progress they’ve seen throughout their careers and the positive shifts toward more inclusive, equitable workplaces. Their message was clear: we’ve come a long way over the past 20 years, but there is still work to be done.
At Robson, we couldn’t agree more. We are committed to fostering gender equity, supporting women across our business, and ensuring every employee has access to meaningful career development, mentorship and opportunities to grow. We are proud to champion a workplace where women feel seen, supported and empowered to thrive.
