Project Highlights

  • Being developed on one of Sydney’s busiest roads meant an integrated traffic solution was necessary to ensure the infrastructure upgrades were completed without any disruption to pedestrian or traffic movements.
  • The excavation works involved over 100 truck movements per hour with multiple load out points, truck marshalling and co-ordination issues.
  • Community liaison was carried out in conjunction with the client as the site was adjacent to multiple offices.

Project duration of 24 months at a value of $44m.

Scope of Work

Robson undertook the bulk civils, roads and tunnels packages at the country’s largest retail redevelopment Top Ryde City, occupying a 3.5 hectare site on the corner of Devlin Street and Blaxland Road in Ryde.

The project incorporated significant infrastructure upgrades and public domain works, including the construction of three vehicular tunnels.

Robson was engaged to complete the bulk earthworks, roads & tunnels packages scope of works comprising:

  • Bulk excavation, haulage and disposal of over 500,000m³ of shale won utilising rippers and hammers;
  • Construction of retention system utilising over 1,000 anchors & 7,500m² of shotcrete;
  • Reconfiguration of road works; and
  • Construction of three vehicular tunnels.

 


 

Bennetts Green Homemaker Centre

Client: ADCO Constructions

Project Highlights

  • Robson worked closely with our client ADCO, to ensure key dates were adhered to and met for not only the developer but also their retail tenants. This involved staging works in a manner that access could be provided and certain areas of the development could be completed ahead of others.
  • Robson helped to overcome several challenges in the new RMS intersections and medians along the Pacific Highway. The pavement design was amended in several areas with consultation from Robson, to ensure works could be constructed in a safe manner to both the travelling public and also workers in these areas. This was made even more difficult, following the presence of unsuitable material and need for deeper excavations adjacent to traffic.

Project duration of 14 months at a value of $13.5m.

Scope of Work

The works consist of the associated civil construction works for the building and construction of the Bennetts Green Homemaker Centre.

Robson was engaged to complete the following scope of works:

  • A new signalised intersection on the Pacific Highway for access to the new development;
  • 8.5 Ha site clearing;
  • 25,600m3 bulk earthworks;
  • Detailed excavations for footings and slabs
  • 4.0km stormwater pipes (also including culverts and in-ground drainage retention structures);
  • Reinforced earth retaining wall; and
  • All pavement courses, kerb & gutter (except concrete).

 


 

Cessnock Correctional Centre Stages 1 & 3

Cessnock, NSW

Client: Lendlease

Project Highlights

  • Robson offered a practical approach to onsite design changes and minor alterations in a short timeframe without impacting the program.
  • Onsite encapsulation of Asbestos Contaminated Fill significantly reduced disposal costs.
  • The use of screw piles as a substitute to bored piers has resulted in a substantial reduction in program duration.
  • Robson were commended by head contractor Lendlease for providing design innovation that resulted cost savings for the client.

Project duration of 26 months at a value of $23.2m.

Scope of Work

As part of the upgrades at the Cessnock Correctional Centre, Robson was engaged to complete Stages 1 & 3 of 3 packages of work to upgrade the complex.

Stage 1 included the construction of the Rapid Build Prison, the first of its kind in Australia, a 400 bed maximum security centre accommodating sentenced male inmates.

Stage 3 included the construction of a 240 bed expansion to the existing minimum security centre accommodating sentenced male inmates.

Robson was engaged to complete the following scope of works:

  • Clearing works;
  • Site remediation of asbestos contaminated materials;
  • Bulk earthworks cut to fill including swales;
  • Pavement construction, internal and external roads;
  • In-ground stormwater drainage;
  • Detailed excavation;
  • Carparks including linemarking;
  • Concrete hardstand, broom finish and joint sealed for heavy vehicle usage;
  • 361 bored piers up to 1.8m in depth underneath the building pads;
  • 695 screw piles of varying depths up to 6.0m; and
  • Building platforms.

 


 

Williamtown RAAF Base – New Air Combat Capability Facility (NACC)

Project Highlights

  • Over 25,000 man hours worked with NIL lost time or medical treatment injuries recorded.
  • Lendlease noted they were extremely pleased with the way Robson delivered a high quality product with all commercial issues handled in a cooperative and collaborative manner.

Project duration of 12 months at a value of $10m.

Scope of Work

Robson was engaged to complete the following scope of works

  • New Bureau of Meteorology Facility which involved concrete structures serviced by low voltage electrical, communications, sewer rising main and water reticulation;
  • Bulk earthworks for building facilities and airfield apron;
  • Temporary access road to service future construction projects including bulk earthworks, service relocation / protection, RCBC drainage, sedimentation basins and pavements;
  • Medowie site access road – 2.2km of 35mm asphalt pavements to service future NACC project;
  • EO (Explosive Ordnance) link road to provide access to new EO stores with HV electrical and communication reticulation and pavements; and
  • Medowie road intersection to provide safe access and egress to Hunter Water easement.

 


 

Rouse Hill Town Centre

Project Highlights

  • Complex package delivered ahead of program ensuring client’s entire project as a whole was delivered ahead of time.
  • Completing construction of a wetland pond with various structural elements directly adjacent to a major waterway without incident.

Project duration of 24 months at a value of $30m.

Scope of Work

Civil Infrastructure works for construction of a new community hub in North West Sydney for Bovis Lend Lease.

Robson was engaged to complete the following scope of works:

  • 250,000m3 of bulk earthworks cut to fill;
  • 7km of stormwater drainage including large OSD tank;
  • 80,000m2 of flexible pavements;
  • Construction of RTA transit way bus interchange on Western Sydney Transit way with 5,000m2 of rigid pavement;
  • 5 signalised intersections;
  • 7km of service trenching; and
  • Permanent wetland pond structure including 3 pedestrian bridges, honed concrete pavements, a slip formed barrier wall, synthetic clay liners and a large structural concrete retaining wall.

 


 

Newcastle Bus Interchange

  • Robson successfully worked in collaboration with multiple stakeholders successfully delivering the project on time and budget.
  • Robson worked closely with our client BLOC, to ensure key dates were adhered to and met. This involved staging works in a manner that access could be provided and certain areas of the development could be completed ahead of others.

Scope of Work

The former Newcastle and Suburban Co-operative Society Limited ‘The Store’ was purchased by the NSW Government as an opportunity to facilitate a legacy development in the emerging West End of Newcastle, as well as a true multi-modal public transport infrastructure to complement the Newcastle Interchange.

The construction of the Newcastle Interchange includes twin 90-metre towers and carpark complex, Grade A commercial space, public domains and the Newcastle Bus Interchange.

Robson was engaged to complete the following scope of works:

  • Detailed earthworks;
  • Pavement works;
  • Road sealing works (including carparks);
  • Formwork and concreting;
  • Stormwater services; and
  • Hard & soft landscaping.
